Texas Repro Lab is fully equipped to offer a full range of services in canine reproduction. Advances in technology now enable us to breed dogs from any two parts of the world. Judy Jones has complete training in this cutting edge technology and she can provide assistance with canine ovulation timing, semen evaluation, transcervical insemination (TCI) of fresh, chilled, and frozen semen. 

Texas Repro Lab uses the semen preservation system, to produce puppies using TCI. Our system requires no surgical inseminations, no anesthesia, no stud dog present. All frozen semen is not the same it depends on how it is put up and how many times it is split. Our frozen semen is different we put it up to produce pups. Our quality standards are the highest in the industry. 

We do not compromise; the methods we use for freezing and packaging the semen provide higher quality semen post thaw. Surgical inseminations are only required of inferior semen or inferior frozen semen products.

Canine Ovulation Timing

Proper ovulation timing permits accurate evaluation of gestational length and is essential in the evaluation of apparent infertility in the bitch. In addition, litter size is optimal with properly timed breedings.

Semen Evaluation

A good semen evaluation provides breeders with confidence that their male can successfully impregnate females.  Sperm motility is checked and concentrated sample is ran in a Densimeter.  Densimeter will give a total count of the studs sperm quality.

In any species, there are two principal indications for collecting semen:

• As a prelude to artificial insemination, which often involves short or long-term semen storage
• To assess the potential fertility of a male and provide diagnostic information in cases of infertility

Semen has been collected from a very large number of creatures. In dairy cattle, chickens and turkeys, semen collection, processing and insemination is a large industry, and has been indispensible in genetic improvement programs. At the other end of the spectrum are species like elephants and killer whales, where semen collection has been reported, but is far from a routine procedure.

In House Progesterone Testing with Mini Vidas

We do in house progesterone testing with a mini-vidas. Canine ovulation timing is possible by analyzing levels of the reproductive hormone, progesterone in the blood. As a female approaches ovulation the levels of progesterone begin to rise. 

By charting this increase it is possible to predict the time of ovulation. Ovulation timing with progesterone analysis is the most accurate method to determine proper time for mating or insemination. Ovulation timing is also critical when dealing with frozen semen or semen of questionable quality. Frozen semen life span is 12 to 24 hours post thaw.

Transcervical Insemination (TCI) of fresh, chilled, and frozen semen

The important difference between a trans-cervical insemination and a surgical implant is, obviously, that the trans-cervical does not entail the risks of general anaesthesia and surgery. Unless there is a pathological condition of the uterus, there is no benefit to doing a surgical. If the tissues of the uterus or the ovary are abnormal, an exploratory surgical procedure can be done on the bitch well before she is in heat.
